Motorhome Garage Mayhem: How Do You Fit It All In?

Let’s be real—packing up the motorhome garage feels like playing an endless game of Tetris. We’ve got two young kids (2 and 4), so our garage is stuffed to the brim with everything they could possibly need (and then some!). From bikes to wellies, toolkits to that BBQ we live in hope of using, it’s a constant battle to get it all in and out without losing our minds.

The Packing Puzzle: Squeezing It All In

Here’s a quick peek at our usual packing list for the garage:

• Kids’ bikes (of course, they want them for every stop!)

• BBQ (because we’re always hopeful…)

• Wheel ramps (not glamorous, but essential)

• Electric cable (no campsite is complete without it)

• Coats, wellies, helmets, shoes… you name it!

Every time we pack it up, it feels like we’re prepping for a month-long expedition—except we’re probably just heading to a campsite 20 miles down the road! And every time we arrive, the unloading begins… usually with half the campsite watching as we unpack our entire lives onto the grass.

The Rainy-Day Blues

If the sun’s shining, unpacking is fun—like setting up a mini outdoor shop. But when it’s raining? Oh boy. The frustration of having to pull everything out onto wet grass is enough to test even the most patient of us! Wet boots, soggy toys, and muddy bikes make us wonder if we’re mad for doing this.

Why Does It Feel Like a Car Boot Sale?

Honestly, we must look like we’re hosting a car boot sale every time we set up camp. We’re constantly rearranging things to make them fit, playing the “garage shuffle” of pulling this out to get to that. And don’t even get me started on trying to find the one thing we actually need—it’s always buried at the very back!
